First off, we want to say that we don't want to make SAF seem like a dangerous place (generally, it isn't). But it is the internet and any forum is only as safe as the internet. You will see various forms of this post around the forum but this one is going to be marked as an important thread so everyone will see it as the first thing they see. Because I want to make sure everyone reads it and sometimes it's easy to miss. Mostly, this is common sense stuff but sometimes it's easy to let your guard down when you get comfortable on a forum. As a friendly (but very important) reminder, we would like to remind you and encourage you to protect your privacy here on SAF as you would anywhere else online. Photos that you post on here could potentially compromise your safety or your privacy. SAF is a mental health forum and some members may be far more or less stable than others. We don't want to discriminate but this is just a fact that you need to be aware of. Although we have taken some basic steps to screen the membership here, we cannot guarantee any photos or personal information you post here will not compromise your privacy in some way. We cannot protect you from yourself. It just means be smart and be careful. We created this forum because we like you people. We want you to be safe. Please carefully consider the risks of posting any links to your Facebook page or anything that is connected to your real name here. If your real name is publicly displayed, people can potentially find you very easily online. It has happened before. People have acquired stalkers who harassed them for years. It's just an unfortunate reality of life on the internet. It can happen to anyone and usually the people it does happen to didn't do anything wrong. They simply made the mistake of trusting a bunch of strangers too much. I don't want that to happen to anyone here. I know people are more trusting online these days and sharing every minute detail of their lives. I personally don't think it's a good idea but I'm not gonna get in your way if you choose to. So long as you have read this first. So, in short, we ask you to please consider the consequences of posting very personal information or pictures or videos of yourself or your family on here. I'm going to leave this thread stickied and unlocked so you can post your thoughts or questions here. Thanks - SAF Staff
