UPDATED by WYSD
As well as being a "spare" or "back up" forum for Social Anxiety Support, another purpose for this forum is being able to post with increased privacy.
Previously, all guests needed to log in to be able to see any sections on here at all. This may have made some potential members feel forced to join and pushed some of them away from wanting to join, which I feel is understandable as I would feel the same. We have decided to let guests see some sections on here so they can decide whether they would like to join or not. For the comfort, security and privacy of existing members, the sections where posts requiring privacy have not been made visible to guests.
Some new forum sections have just been added. The new sections are the ones with "*" next to them on the following list.
These are the sections that are only viewable to members:
Introductions Getting To Know Each Other* Social Anxiety Goals, Achievements and Positivity Therapy and Self Help* Exposure Problems, Venting and Support Health, Exercise and Nutrition Spiritual Support* Atheist and Agnostic Support* General Discussion Arts and Crafts Photo Albums (access to this section requires a certain post count) Family and Friendships Relationships Studying and Working* LGBT* Polls Pets and Animals* Hobbies, Interests and Relaxation
Games and Fun
Entertainment and Media
Science & Philosophy
Religion*
News and Politics
These are the sections that are viewable by guests:
Announcements The SAS Escape Pod Feedback and Suggestions
If you have any questions or concerns, or you are not happy with the privacy settings for a certain section, please post in this thread so I can change it. I want everyone to feel comfortable here.

Looks good to me.
EDIT - Also, if you have issues with it that you're not comfortable posting, feel free to PM one of us and let us know about it. This is just a step that we took to kind of give people who might be thinking about signing up a taste of the forum. Your privacy and comfort is important too.

There will eventually be a new section created for extra privacy, and it will only be accessible to members who have made at least 20 posts (the same as for the Photo Albums section). Most people don’t have many posts yet which is why the number is so low. If the forum becomes more active and people post more, the number will be raised to 50.

I have added a poll, and we would appreciate it if as many members as possible voted. EDIT - WillYouStopDave adds - Please remember to say why if you vote "It Depends". Unfortunately, the poll system here on Proboards doesn't show who voted for what and we didn't realize that when we made the poll.

Social Anxiety is the main focus right? so Social Anxiety section should be public for non-members

Honestly I don't think Guests should have access to SAF's main Social Anxiety related threads listed on the Register Member Threads List. I find the Privacy to be good.
I have a question: Is this forum a Closed Group? Even though guests can view certain threads I assume SAF to be exclusively for SAS register members. Like if a Guest here want to view Social Anxiety related threads they should either register here on SAF or go to SAS and view Social Anxiety related threads as a public viewer. I think Guests should go on SAS to do that while SAF's Social Anxiety Related Threads are viewable for us register SAF members. Not trying to sound mean or unfair but wasn't the purpose of this Forum was to be a back up, spare alternarive place for SAS members?

Not trying to sound mean or unfair but wasn't the purpose of this Forum was to be a back up, spare alternarive place for SAS members? Threads posted in the Social Anxiety section can be too personal for it to be a good idea for them to be made public, especially when some of the members here are posting here instead of SAS because someone they know has found their posts there and they no longer feel comfortable about posting because of it. That is something that has happened a lot, and some people can stalk. I feel that the sections where people post personal things deserve privacy, and that’s why all of the support sections are still hidden from the public.
This forum is exclusively for SAS members, and you’re not being mean or unfair, @fun Spirit. The only sections that we would consider making public would be the ones where people have discussions about something other than themselves, and the game section, which is how it is currently.

On a side note, what's the significance of the stars and titles under our user names? I think it is supposed to be the person's "rank". It has to do with how many posts you have (I think).

I like that this forum is more private. Personally, I'd like to keep all sections private. The most important ones hidden from guests though, so I can't complain On a side note, what's the significance of the stars and titles under our user names? They’re ranks. I thought the different coloured stars and titles would be fun. You need to have a certain rank to access the Photo Albums section and the new section I haven’t created yet.

OK. I voted "it depends" because to me, we can keep it or not. I think it's a good thing for the forum to be somewhat visible but to me, it really all depends on whether or not the actual members are comfortable with that. The main reason I am here is to help maintain a place where people feel comfortable and safe.

If even one person doesn’t like it being visible, that’s enough for me to listen to them and change it back, or hide any section they don’t think should be visible. I want everyone to feel safe and comfortable on here.

Sorry... been busy. New job. From what I can tell, and I did notice the new accessibility for this site, I think the changes are fine.
I think the problem would've become that someone who gets invited on here will eventually tell someone on VBulletin SAS who hasn't been invited yet.
From that perspective, it was only a matter of time until they started requesting access themselves.
I don't know what this will result in but I can only hope good things.
I will agree with what the admin feel is appropriate. You guys are running the vision now, so...

I mean, in reality, as long as it is an SAS member who has not caused a lot of trouble, we'd probably just let them join. We're trying to be somewhat selective in who we invite for the time being but most of the long-term SAS members are not massive troublemakers anyway. We'd really be more leery of unknowns. But it's not ideal.

Most people from SAS are okay, but some don’t post enough for us to notice what they’re like, which is why we’ve been careful about who to invite. Some people cause problems through PMs or in the background somewhere even though they act nice in their posts.
